2. Perjalanan karier
Meski sudah memutuskan ingin berkarier di dunia tarik suara sejak usia dini, tapi IU baru debut sebagai penyanyi profesional pada tahun 2008 dalam dalam Mnet M! Countdown. Sebelumnya, IU pernah ikut berbagai audisi dan gagal, termasuk dari JYP Entertainment.
Kemudian IU masuk sebagai trainee Loen Entertainment (Kakao M) dan pindah ke agensi EDAM Entertainment yang masih berada di bawah Kakao M. Tepat pada 24 September 2008, IU merilis album Lost and Found dengan "Lost Child" sebagai singel utama dan dianugerahi "Rookie of the Month".
Kian sukses luncurkan banyak album dan single, IU pun mulai merambah dunia akting pada 2011, lewat peran pendukung sebagai Kim Pil Suk di serial drama musikal Dream High. Setelahnya, katier akting IU kian matang dan sukses membintangi berbagai judul drama, seperti The Producers (2015) , Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), My Mister (2018), dan Hotel del Luna (2019).
